3 Factors Companies Should Consider In Selecting Drug Testing Service Providers
Based on a survey in 2017 released by Anti-narcotic Agency, employees have become the most prevalent drug abusers. Therefore, a drug testing for a company is not an option, but a need in order to create a safe work environment and as part of compliance.
Many companies often work with drug testing service providers to fulfill the needs. The problem is different service providers offer different quality of services. The following are some of the factors that should be taken into consideration by companies in choosing the providers.
1. Customizable solution
Choose a service provider that offers customizable solutions, not one size fits for all. Different industries, different needs. Generally, companies take five panels tests. However, companies or professions which are tightly related to consumer safety need to take a more complete panel, for example, professional medical personnel and commercial airline pilots.
What types of panels and drug substances are tested?
- 3 panels test: Amphetamine, Marijuana, Cocaine
- 5 panels test: Amphetamine, Marijuana, Opiates, Benzodiazepines
- 10 panels test: Amphetamine, Marijuana, Cocaine, Opiates, Benzodiazepines, Methamphetamine, Barbiturate, Methadone, Phencyclidine, MDMA
2. Reasonably fast turn around time
In order to streamline the recruitment process and get a comprehensive information about the candidate, choose a screening service that combines drug testing with other kinds of checks – credit check, criminal and litigation checks, etc. Screening services like this usually promise reasonably fast turn around time for all the results of checks.
3. Accuracy
Accurate results start from the collection and treatment of urine samples protocol – the chain of custody – which minimizes the chance of false positives or false negatives. Experienced service providers will usually be tighter in the chain of custody, for example, the providers require candidates who will be tested to pass the security check before entering the urine collection room in order to ensure they do not carry items that have the potential to affect the results of the urine test later.
